Difference Between Vaping E-liquids and Cannabis Concentrates

Vaping concentrates, such as wax, flower, and oil is the same as vaping your favorite vape liquid, right? Well, not exactly. Vaping cannabis concentrates; using different methods is bound to have different results as you will find out below.

The numerous benefits of vaping cannabis, as compared to smoking, are thought to be responsible for its growing popularity. Vaping eliminates the need to burn cannabis; thus marginalizing the health risks associated with inhaling fumes and toxins that occur during combustion.

Vaping cannabis relies on heating up the substance up to the point where active cannabinoids such as THC are vaporized and inhaled.

With the above in mind, let’s look at how vaping cannabis concentrates and vape juice liquid actually differs.

Heat Transfer Method

Dabbing and vaping are the two main ways in which cannabis users use heat to extract vapor rich in active cannabinoids from cannabis concentrates. Dabbing is considered to be a vaping method.

With this in mind, there are two main methods of vaporizing cannabis concentrates to get active cannabinoids out of them; these are defined by the mode of heat transfer employed, conduction or convection.

Conductive vaping involves bringing the cannabis concentrate in contact with a heating plate or coil. This facilitates faster heat transfer, and achieves higher temperatures, as is the case in dabbing. It usually results in combustion as the temperatures tend to be quite high.

Convective vaping devices on the other hand work by heating air around the concentrate, usually vaping e-liquid. The hot air then transfers the heat to the e-liquid resulting in vaporization. This heating method eliminates the risk of combustion as temperature levels hardly ever get that high.

Which One Results In A Stronger Hit?

The potency of the vaping cannabis is determined by how fast a given amount of concentrate can be vaporized and inhaled. Dabbing results in a stronger hit as the high temperatures vaporize the cannabis faster; the goal then becomes inhaling the vapor at once. Convective heating results in slower heat transfer to the vape liquid, resulting in diminished potency, especially since the user may choose to take small hits.

Which Is Healthier?

One of the main reasons for vaping marijuana is to reap the associated health benefits. It’s however worth noting that this is not always the case. For instance, dabbing increases the risk of combustion, and with it, the possibility of inhaling the same harmful fumes you are trying to avoid by not smoking.

Vaping e-liquid also exposes users to harmful vapors from toxic thinning products used to make cannabis oils and waxes less viscous. Thinning the viscous concentrates makes them easier to vaporize. This risk is elevated when you choose a cheap vape juice of questionable quality.

Final Thoughts

As you can see from the above, there are some distinctive differences between vaping cannabis concentrates and vaping E- liquids. If you do choose to go with the latter, remember to choose a premium vape juice to ensure that you reap the maximum associated health benefits of vaping opposed to smoking cigarettes. Regardless, when choosing vaping opposed to a combustion method, the affects on health are greatly reduced.
