While the hemp plant has been around for longer than mankind, there has recently been a massive surge in CBD everything hitting the market. You may have heard about these products helping people with everything from combatting anxiety to completely replacing medications prescribed by their family doctor, we here at West Coast Vape Supply have hand-picked products that we believe can get you started on your CBD journey.

A great number of people are sadly misinformed about Cannabidiol and Cannabinoids in general – our job is to make your life as simple as possible while giving you access to the most current information available. We are witnessing the rebirth of one of the greatest industries that mankind has ever known; present for, potentially, a wind-change in the way that we treat many illnesses – an exciting time to be alive!

What Is CBD?

In simple terms, Cannabidiol – CBD -- is extracted from the flowers and buds of Marijuana or Hemp plants, although almost all companies shy away from the former plant. CBD has many significant medical benefits, many of which have been found during clinical studies and research sponsored by the US Government. It is one of at least 1300 Cannabinoids found in the plants and does not produce any psychoactive effects, meaning it will not get you high. Almost all the products on the market today contain CBD extracted from Hemp and by law contains less than 4% THC. CBD has had a rough history, but it seems to be making a massive resurgence as more people discover its benefits by the day.

How Does CBD Work?

Believe it or not, your body has a built-in system specifically for working with CBD to improve your health. The Endocannabinoid system has been described as a complex network physiological within the body comprising of CB1 and CB2 receptors, maintaining balance within the brain and central nervous system as well as immune system support. Many people have commented that CBD helps them more than any medications they have ever taken, they don’t realize that the human body doesn’t have the capacity to deal with opiates, but we are hardwired for CBD. The crazy thing is, CBD doesn’t only work for people -- many people are turning to CBD products to help their pets, especially when it comes to anxiety and arthritis pain.

Who Should Use CBD?

The list of people who can be helped by CBD products is large as the number of people currently sitting on Planet Earth. Over the last century, CBD and THC have been stigmatized and the vast majority have no idea exactly how helpful these plant extracts can be.  As more people are raving about their experiences, however, the number of curious minds is growing. If you suffer from any of the disorders listed below, it may be time to give CBD a try and find out what it can do for you.

What Are the Potential Benefits Of CBD?

CBD is currently being used by people everywhere to help with a wide variety of health issues.

While this is not a comprehensive list, we have put together a few of the more common uses that we have found: ADHD, ALS, Alzheimer’s, Anxiety, Arthritis, Autism, Bipolar Disorder, Crohn’s Disease, Depression, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Glaucoma, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Kidney Disease, Liver Disease, Migraines, Mood swings, Motion sickness, Multiple Sclerosis, Nausea, Neuropathy, Obesity, Parkinson’s, PTSD, Skin Conditions, Sleep Disorders, Stress, Stroke.

CBD is also a known antipsychotic, antidepressant and is currently being extensively researched as a cancer-killing agent. As we said, this is by no means a complete list and the known benefits are increasing by the minute.

Will CBD get me high?

According to the World Health Organization, CBD is low risk with no potential for creating dependency. More importantly, the lack of THC in CBD means that you will get all the benefits without the risk of becoming high. This also means that unless you are severely over-using CBD, you will not fail a drug test.

How Much is Too Much?

While there has never been a case of anyone overdosing on CBD – and probably never will be – the recommended daily dose is 20mg for adults. Pay attention to the products you buy; most of the packaging shows you the milligram (MG) amount for the entire package. Therefore, the physical amount you take of a 150mg CBD product will be drastically different from 1200mg CBD product.

Will CBD Interfere with my Current Medication?

That question depends entirely on who you talk to, but the common consensus is that there is little potential for adverse effects. With some medications, it may increase the time they take to metabolize in your system while it may remove the need to take others altogether. More doctors are now willing to talk to patients about CBD honestly; if you’re worried about any medication, it may be a good idea to ask their opinion. Please remember though, many physicians are working with the same information as the rest of us, some of them still can’t get past the last century of stigmatization and you will probably be able to find the answer to your questions online. One thing that we can tell you for sure is that CBD products are actually letting people get away from certain medications entirely..

A Brief History of Hemp

You would think, from current events and the explosion of Full Spectrum CBD products, that these compounds had been invented in a laboratory last year. As it happens, Hemp was an integral part of human history.

Traces have been found as far back as 8000 BCE in China, where it was being used in pottery making and as a food product. It was one of the 5 sacred plants in ancient Indian culture and first made an appearance in Europe around the 500 years before our current calendars began.

It came to the United States with the Europeans – the sails and ropes on the Mayflower were probably made from Hemp and it became a booming crop in these fertile soils. The Constitution was drafted on Hemp paper and at one point in history, farmers were required by law to grow the crop.

Fast forward to the 20th Century, The Marijuana Tax Act placed a tax on all cannabis sales, including hemp, which created a climate for Hemp all but disappearing from American shores.  In 1970, the Controlled Substances Act classified hemp as an illegal Schedule I drug, which imposed strict regulations on the cultivation of industrial Hemp, destroying the industry in the United States entirely. Thankfully, over the last 15 years, after court cases and appealing to the better nature of the Government that insanity has been overturned.

Different Products for Different Folks

There are so many variations of Full Spectrum CBD products right now it’s hard to keep up, but we are going to break down the main types of delivery methods. For some folks, vaping CBD isn’t a problem, others prefer to take it sublingually while others prefer to use it externally. Whichever method works best for you, here’s a quick rundown of how it all works.

Vaping CBD

Much like the nicotine vapor products that are currently on the market, vapeable CBD is one of the fastest delivery methods. Normally used with refillable pod systems or Temperature controlled devices you may find that you are using less product to get the same effect. Aerosolizing the CBD allows it to pass into the bloodstream quickly and as far as the international community is concerned is the preferred method.  CBD should be vaped at temperatures lower than 180°C/ 356°F to prevent it from burning off any potential benefits.

CBD Tincture

Allowing CBD to be absorbed into the Sublingual Artery beneath the tongue is another great way to ensure rapid absorption. The amount you need to drop in depends on the strength of the tincture you buy –they generally range from 100mg all the way up to 1500mg.  Drip it under your tongue and hold it there for approximately 30 – 60 seconds for the best results. Some tinctures have been pre-mixed with flavorings while others taste as nature intended. Straight CBD tinctures may not have the greatest flavor but, if you wish, they can be mixed with other products to make them more palatable.

CBD Isolate

CBD Isolate is essentially pure CBD – or the closest that you can get to it.  Isolate has been decarboxylated (a process that removes all unwanted plant materials leaving you with a concentrate) and is recommended, by some, for medical uses. Concentrated CBD means that much less of the product is required to achieve the desired effects. It can be mixed with almost anything, from Apple Sauce to hot Tea or taken entirely by itself.

CBD Gummies

Unless you’ve lived on a Desert Island your entire life, we’re sure you know how CBD Gummies work. Pretty much the same as the vitamins you took as a child, pop one in and give it a good chew, or just leave it in your mouth to dissolve. Most people tend to start off with CBD Gummies or Honey Sticks as they are simple to use, generally low dose and delicious.

Honey Sticks

Cut the end off the Honey Sticks and the choices become endless. Easy on the palette and ready to go, Honey sticks are a simple option. Replacing sugar/sweetener in hot drinks with the straws in the morning and before bed is a perfect way to get your daily dose or even as a topping on your favorite Ice-cream.

CBD Drinks

Energy shots have become a mainstay in our on the go culture, so the concept of a CBD shot wasn’t that hard to reach. A complete daily dose in a 2 oz bottle, taking out all the guesswork while tasting amazing.

CBD Capsules

Generally containing CBD Isolate, the capsules are for people who want the benefits of the powder without having to measure anything. Higher doses are available for those who want to take the recommended daily amount in one go or lower doses for those who want to split it throughout the day.

CBD Creams

Not only do people currently take CBD products orally but a growing number are using lotions, creams, and oils to absorb CBD through their skin. It’s not as crazy as it sounds, especially when you have skin conditions and you can apply it topically to the affected area. Eczema, Acne & Rosacea sufferers benefit greatly from the direct application.

CBD Nugs

Nugs are the most natural CBD product on the market. Essentially, it’s the dried flower of the Hemp plant and is sold by the physical weight and is a CBD rich product. While the Nug is not for everyone, if you feel like rolling one and going for a slow burn, it’s an ideal choice.

CBD For Pets

As we said earlier, the benefits of CBD are felt outside of humans. Many dog owners have come forward, stating that dogs with anxiety or chronic arthritis pain can be helped greatly by a small dose of CBD on a regular basis. The same can be said for our feline friends too – anything from stomach issues to mangy skin can be assisted with a little CBD.
